Finally found a decent used bike to make into my "utility/backup" machine, a 2004 Cannondale Adventure 1000 for a unreal $150.00!!! It's now got the trailer hitch on and is set up to do the utility runs and, it's able to do some, hard packed "DIRT" trails here in Colorado Springs! No, it's not a Mountain Bike, it's a hybird with 700Cx38 semi-knobby tires and straight bars. This will make the 2012 Jamis Coda Sport my, recreational-touring "ROAD" bike so I'm now covered for all uses as we don't do "Singletrack" MTB style riding anymore. Rode it today and it's a FUN bike, it's got a Sram Dual-Drive rear hub so there's no "front" derailer and only "one" chainwheel but it's still 27 speeds!

I've already pulled off the silly little chain guard and added bar ends for secondary hand position. It's even got a small bit of "suspension" called a HEAD SHOCK, the nice thing is that you can, "LOCK" it out when riding mainly "paved" roads or trails. It's great to have a "back up" bike when you are, CAR FREE, (ie: we don't own a car!) and now I don't have to use my "road bike" to get food, etc, sweet!
I'm still only able to do 15 to 25 miles a ride due to the "Pseudo-Gout", flair up, the left knee and 2nd. toe, still get VERY sore but it's about the same level of pain, weither I "walk or ride" so I prefer to RIDE!
B.J. :)
